Welcome to the University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center (FLREC)
Upon arrival at your FLREC, you will receive a copy of this graduate student handbook (https://flrec.ifas.ufl.edu/). You will also be introduced to the FLREC housing coordinator Ms. Janay Johnson (janayjohnson@ufl.edu), and the office manager Mrs. Sarah Kern (smkern@ufl.edu). These individuals can ensure you are added to the REC email listserv/TEAMS site.
An orientation for new students will occur every semester to review important information about FREC.
- Orientation dates are usually the first week of class each semester
- On the first Friday of the first week of class we will have a 10 am coffee break (meet and greet) with optional tours.
- Getting Around

Your supervisor/advisor should assist you with identifying laboratory staff who can assist with the procurement of housing, food, and transportation until you are established.
