Prospective Students

UF Fort Lauderdale Campus offers BS, MS and PhD Degree programs in Geomatics

Students wishing to major in Geomatics for their BS can be admitted in two ways

  • as a freshman immediately after completing high school
  • as a transfer student after earning 60 or more transferable college credits from a community college, junior college, or other 4-year university. An Associate of Arts degree (AA) from a Florida institution is encouraged as it will satisfy all UF general education requirements. A list of prerequisite courses which can be part of the AA must be completed prior to admission, without exception.
    Download the admission brochure.

The Geomatics major at UF is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and is the only program of its kind in the state.

  • Professional Surveying
  • Geographic Information Systems
  • Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
  • Photogrammetry

UF graduates are in high demand as evidenced by multiple job offers at graduation time. Students are placed in a broad range of private sector and government organizations.

More than 50 percent of the graduates own their own companies and 65 percent manage or supervise a department in surveying and mapping, either in the private or public sector.

Demand for surveying and mapping professionals is increasing due to the growth of Florida and the expansion of Geomatics-based technologies.  Half of Florida’s licensed professionals (1,500) will retire in the next ten years.
